FA Skills Programme – FA Skills Coach

Fixed Term Contract until 31st July 2017
Salary: £19,000 pro rata, per annum

Our Organisation:
The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George’s Park.

The FA Skills Programme:
We introduced the FA Skills to inspire all 5-11’s to love and develop their game, foster lifelong healthy active lifestyles and to improve the long-term performance of our National game. This Programme has a massive short and long-term impact on the nation’s children and football as a whole. The Programme aims to give 5-11’s age appropriate coaching and self-help tools to learn the basics needed to reach their full potential.

Overview of the role:
You will work within the regional skills team and deliver FA Skills coaching to 5-11 year olds through FA Skills Centres, school curriculum lessons, Charter Standard Clubs and holiday sessions or events. You will also support primary school teachers, grassroots coaches and young leaders.
Your role will include the planning, design and delivery of coaching sessions which accommodate differentiation within the 5-11 year age group and promote The England DNA. In addition you will be responsible for organising and promoting the sessions, as well as the completion of all related administration tasks and liaising with the various internal and external stakeholders.

As a Skills Coach you will spend approximately 20 hours of your week coaching and the remainder of the time planning and designing sessions, completing required administration tasks and associated travel across the county. The role will also require you to have a flexible approach to working hours, to include working weekends and evenings on a regular basis.

What we are looking for:

Minimum completed FA / UEFA level 2 valid coaching award
Member of the FA Licensed Coach Club
Completed FA Youth Award Module 1
Experience of coaching 5-11 year olds
Experience of using relevant practices to support age appropriate child development.

Ability to enthuse and communicate with 5-11 year olds in a positive learning environment
Evidence of a commitment to appropriate learning & CPD
Ability to work using your own initiative, with an organised and proactive approach to work to ensure that administration tasks and deadlines are met.

Full driving license and access to vehicle for business use
Basic Microsoft Office Skills

In addition, the following skills and experience would be desirable:

UEFA B / FA level 3 valid coaching award or above
Youth Award Module 2 or above
Experience of working in school environment and knowledge of the National Curriculum for PE
Be able to demonstrate ability to effectively plan and design coaching sessions

Ability and experience of applying the philosophy of The England DNA, The FA Four Corner Model and FA Youth Modules to coaching the 5-11 year age group
