Imagine if there was a 10% Grassroots levy on transfers….

We see the pro clubs breaking records again in the transfer market. The figures are mind boggling.

For example did you know since the premier league started approximately 5 billion has been spent.

This is without the leagues below the premier league.

The funds are used to make rich clubs and players richer.

Every single player bought or sold in this time period started with a grassroots club and a grassroots coach, do they deserve to be recognised and rewarded financially via transfer activity?

It’s a good questions and I think a valid question, without the grassroots start these players wouldn’t be able to get to where they are today.

Imagine if all transfers had a 10% grassroots levy……..

How would this work, easy 10% of all transfer fees are pooled together and allocated evenly down to FA affiliated clubs.

Imagine if twice per year YOUR club received a small financial boost.

There are approximately 40,000 grassroots teams in England alone, this would equate to £12,500 per club since the premier league began or about £500 per year.

Why can’t this happen, professional clubs rely heavily on grassroots clubs for future players, shirt sales, fan bases, etc etc.

No Grassroots = No Premier League.
