Memorial to honour Oliver who died in freak accident with Respect barrier.

This is an open letter from Oliver’s family to the Grassroots family…

As you may or may not no Oliver Croker was sadlytaken from us on the 14th September 2015 ages 12 while watching his older brother Liam (Myself) play football.

Oliver was killed in a freak accident involving a ‘Respect’ crowd barrier, at a football match

Oliver Croker was watching an amateur game in which I was playing with his twin brother when two players crashed off the pitch into a rope holding back spectators.

A pole supporting a barrier struck Oliver in the head, causing critical injuries. that he would never be able to recover from.

He was airlifted to hospital and placed on a life-support machine but tragically failed to pull through.

This has been a really painful time for our whole family to come to terms with this, the only way we feel good is through fundraising.

To keep his memory alive…..

On May 14th 2016 we will be holding a ‘charity fun day’ Fun for children of all ages, also a mens charity football match against a Local semi pro team.

All to raise money for to Charites, the Devon air ambulance and the Bristol Children’s Hospital ( Wallace and Gromit grand appeal) the reasons for these two are that the Devon air ambulance had to make two journeys with Oliver one to Exeter and then from Exeter to Bristol Children’s Hospital and with them not being government funded it just seemed the right thing to do to keep them in the air for other people who need them, and the Bristol children’s hospital who were amazing for Oliver and provided him with 24/7 care, And did everything they could do but sadly as they had never experienced such injuries there was nothing they could do.

The reason I am writing to you and asking you to read this is I would like to ask if you as a Company/business would like to donate a prize for auction/ raffle to raise money for the chosen Charites. I want to make it a day to remember, in my brother’s memory

This event has been authorised by both charities and if you request this I am able to send you these letters also.
